Beatrix Potter, an english writer, illustrator, natural scientist and conservationist, best known for her children’s books featuring Peter Rabbit. This tour explores Beatrix’s areas of inspiration which shows throughout her many tales.

A POPULAR TOUR OF BEATRIX POTTER PLACES AND SCENERY

  • Door to door pick up/drop off.
  • Cross Lake Windermere via ferry to Claife Station viewing platform on the western shore.
  • From here continue up to Hilltop, Beatrix Potter’s home, now owned by the National Trust. Morning entrance to the house, gardens and gift shop.
  • After your visit your tours’ next stop is Hawkshead village with the chance to view the Beatrix Potter Gallery, also owned by the National Trust.
  • Continue on to the Victorian Wray Castle towards the top of the western shoreline, with spectacular views over Lake Windermere and visited by Beatrix Potter in her youth.
  • Your journey now takes you via Barngates to Tarn Hows viewpoint. A man-made scenic tarn known for its stunning landscape and woodlands, but also of course the tarn itself.
  • The tour then travels over to the majestic Coniston Water taking in the views with a short rest stop at the Bluebird café. Named after Donald Campbell’s famous speed boat.
  • Returning at approximately 13.30 via Ambleside along the eastern shore of Lake Windermere to your pickup point.
