This beautiful historic tour includes some grand Lake District properties and offers a perfect day out! The Lake District has some of the best castles and historic houses in the country, with extensive grounds & gardens to explore. If you are a lover of history, grand stately buildings and estates, this is the tour for you.

EXPLORE THE RICH & CHARACTERFUL HISTORIC BUILDINGS OF THE LAKE DISTRICT

  • Door to door pick up/drop off.
  • Your tour begins by heading north towards the ancient village of Troutbeck.
  • Continue up the Kirkstone Mountain Pass to the summit for a brief photo stop.
  • From here you travel down the Pass along the shores of Ullswater and through the villages of Patterdale and Glenridding.
  • Dalemain House is your next stop, one of the most beautiful and impressive stately homes in the North West.
  • Your visit to Dalemain House is where you break for lunch in their Café.
  • Continuing north you stop to visit the imposing ruins of Lowther Castle and Gardens, home of the Earls of Lonsdale in ancient times.
  • Following your visit, the tour continues past the northern fells of Blencathra and Skiddaw, passing the spectacular Thirlmere reservoir and on over Dunmail Raise.
  • Travelling to the village of Grasmere, you stop briefly to visit St. Oswald’s Church, the final resting place of the poet William Wordsworth.
  • Returning along the eastern shore of Lake Windermere back to your pickup point.
  • Finishing at approximately 17.30.
